Why Mindfulness Meditation?

Who isn’t feeling stressed these days? COVID, politics, homeschooling kids while working, the economy….That’s not even mentioning the regular stressors before 2020 hit…..job stress, caretaking, relationships, and overall mental health.

By now, many people have heard mindfulness helps relieve stress but often wonder how or it can seem too challenging. “I can’t sit still,” “I don’t know what I’m doing!”, “I’m falling asleep” are all common questions before even getting started. If you’ve been interested in learning about mindfulness but feel like you might need some guidance, this course can be helpful in helping you start your journey.

During this journey, we’ll explore what mindfulness is: paying attention to the present moment intentionally and with non-judgment. While this is a simple practice that we all have the ability to do, it’s not always easy. However, by learning to practice mindfulness, you can work towards its benefits.  Studies have indicated that mindfulness not only improves well-being by enjoying more pleasant moments and being more capable of handling stressful events but improves physical health. Scientists have pointed to mindfulness as a way to help relieve stress, reduce chronic pain, improve sleep, and lower blood pressure. Additionally, it can often be used to help support mental health.

During this six week course, we’ll practice together, learn about how it can help your wellbeing, and work through the experience and challenges that arises.
