Yoga, Food, and Wine Retreat to Italy

Our all-inclusive yoga retreat will be partnering with La Cucina Sabina located in the Sabine Countryside in a luxury Italian countryside villa. Just 40 minutes from Rome, it’s far enough away to relax and de-stress but close enough to enjoy the sites.  From amazing food to cooking lessons and tours, you’ll experience Italy like a local, and do just enough yoga to stretch, relax, and wind down. You’ll be cared for and pampered as if you were being immersed in a warm, welcoming Italian family. This is an intimate experience with anywhere between 8 to 16 guests.

Late afternoon we head to a local medieval castle, a short drive from the villa. We enjoy a private tour of the castle and then a sunset prosecco reception overlooking the Sabine Hills and valley. A three-course private dinner is served in the castle.

After a buffet breakfast, we visit the ancient hilltop town of Tivoli for a guided tour of the beautiful gardens of Villa d’Este, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you will be amazed at the Renaissance villa, gardens and fountains. The Renaissance gardens stood as a model for others throughout Europe to follow. Along the way, we will visit the morning farmers market as the locals do. After lunch at a historic restaurant in Tivoli, overlooking an ancient Roman temple, you will have free time to enjoy Tivoli on your own before headed back to the villa for a Gentle yoga class followed Yoga Nidra.

Following your buffet breakfast, we depart for “Discover the Secrets of Ancient Rome” tour. In a special, guided tour of the city, making your visit very special and unique. The tour normally includes Piazza Navona, Campo de’ Fiore, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and a number of major works of art. A tasting dinner menu is enjoyed on a trendy rooftop deck with spectacular panoramic views of the Roman skyline and its magical sunset.

After breakfast, we enjoy a scenic drive through the foothills of northern Lazio toward Umbria for a winery visit and a tasting at the family-owned Mazziotti winery overlooking beautiful Lake Bolsena, followed by lunch with the winery owners in their private tasting room. To complement the winery, we stroll through the wonderful hilltop Umbrian town of Orvieto, with its dramatic vistas, medieval walls, Etruscan ruins, shops, and cathedral. In the evening, we have our yoga lesson followed by dinner.

Begin the day by enjoying a delicious homemade breakfast. Because the estate produces its own DOP extra virgin olive oil, we will visit the olive grove and local mill. As part of the visit, you learn what the Romans knew about growing olives 2000 years ago as well as the modern Italian methods of producing some of the best olive oil in the world. We return to the villa and enjoy a tasting of olive oils and lesson on understanding what makes an olive oil great. We will then head to a historic abbey to take in one last gorgeous site in Italy. We will end our retreat with big grand finale five-course dinner, including everything from antipasto to dolce!

After a light breakfast and goodbyes, transfers are provided to Rome’s airports, hotels or train stations for return trips or extended travel in Italy.

This will be a unique setting as we will be shared a restored villa. Our villa is best described as a luxurious country home that sits on a 50-acre estate surrounded by olive and cherry orchards.

You drive past the olive groves and turn into the drive, catch a glimpse of the elegant villa with large, covered verandas and set on a landscape of olive trees and dotted with lemon trees and rosemary bushes. While this is a restored villa you will have all of the modern luxuries to make you feel at home. Large windows in the living room overlook the Olympic-size swimming pool. The floor-to-ceiling glass and large patios are inspired by the American architect Frank Lloyd Wright. There are 8 bedrooms, 9 bathrooms, a large dining room, a modern teaching kitchen and a library to relax or play cards in the evening. Of course, there is lots of outdoor seating in which to read, relax and rejuvenate.

Every bedroom is carefully appointed, with an en-suite bath where you’ll find olive oil infused shampoos and lotions as well as hair dryers and rain head showers perfect for relaxation.
